What happens when Glenn Beck is right…..

My brother-in-law HATES Glenn Beck.  He’s not alone.  There is a loathing for this man the likes of which is rarely seen.  Well, maybe in my own country when a Western Canadian talks about Pierre Elliott Trudeau you’ll see the same sort of disdain.

My dad watches Glenn Beck nearly every day. I do not.  I find him tolerable in small doses. But some of my favourite authors and speakers are often on his show which is why I keep up with him somewhat.  One of the those authors is Joel Rosenberg, a born-again evangelical Jew who is also a consultant to Benjamin Netanyahu and the White House on things going on in the Middle East.

In case you live under a rock or don’t watch cable or any other news channel, Glenn Beck is the poster-boy on FOX news for EXTREMIST right-wingers.  I like my share of politics but some of the stuff that comes out against him is really nutty.  I think people are threatened by him because he has the guts to say stuff that NO ONE else will touch on network or cable TV.  I like a lot of what he says and I agree with most of it.  Here’s the problem.  He’s a Mormon.  And if you know anything about Mormons you know that they have some pretty off-based thinking about Jesus , Satan and what it takes to get into Heaven.  So, yes, I have some definite theological issues with some of his beliefs.  But here’s the thing.   Do I go and investigate the spiritual status of every newscaster I watch or listen to?? No.  When they speak, I have learned to trust or question what they say and then I go and corroborate what they’ve said if I am unsure.  TELLING the news is not akin to PREACHING the news.  There is a difference.  But when Glenn Beck speaks , people take it as preaching.  Maybe because he yells a bit(he could work on that).  Maybe because he’s SO passionate. (nothing wrong there).   Maybe because what he SPEAKS about and TEACHES about and some of the guests on his show are telling you is a bit scary.  Yep. I think that’s it.  People are scared.  Because IF the stuff Glenn Beck is talking about on his show is true(and I believe it to be so) and if it is going to happen…(which it will)…well, people are freaking out.  They call him a SHOCK Jockey! The call him fear-mongering.

And the argument that he gets paid a lot to do what he does and the questions raised about his spiritual motives don’t really stand up.  Even the Devil believes that Jesus is coming back. Even the Devil knows what’s coming next and he knows his time is running out.  Why do you think he’s trying so hard to confuse everyone?

I’d be quite happy if every pastor in North America was doing , at the  very least, a monthly lesson on end-times prophecy but they’re not. Very few are.  There’s a lot of “feel good” gospels going on. There’s a lot of prosperity gospel and a lot about grace.  But there’s very little about being prepared, praying for Israel, the prophecies that are being fulfilled and so on.

Matthew 24  Jesus says:

At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

42-44

42Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

It doesn’t have to be that way.  If you know the TRUTH, the TRUTH will set you free.  People, here’s the deal.  Jesus is coming back.  He’s coming whether you’re ready or not.  He’s coming if the Muslims do or don’t get their 12th Imam Mahdi Messiah dude or if the just throw that whole story away.

He’s coming for his Bride~ you and me~ if we’ve declared, proclaimed and not been ashamed to say that He is God and He did die for our sins, rose from the dead 3 days later and  if we receive Him into our hearts and lives.

He will come if Glenn Beck is on TV or off TV.  He will come if Glenn Beck stays a Mormon or gets saved(pray for him).  He will come if Obama is president or someone else….maybe even Donald Trump!    He will come because HIS word says so.  And HIS WORD has not changed,  unlike the Muslim Koran and the teaching of Joseph Smith(Mormon leader/founder).
Jesus is coming.  The world is in turmoil.  The Middle East is uprising. Israel is a target.  READ your Bibles.  Pray. Seek the wise counsel of friends and family who you trust. But always, always, always hold EVERYTHING up to the LIGHT.  The Light of the world is Jesus. In Him there is no darkness.  His word is for us , to lead us, to teach us…hold EVERYTHING up to His word and you will find the truth.

1 Timothy 4:

12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

HEBREWS 3:

12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.15 As has just been said:

“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.”

So, back to Glenn Beck for a minute.  For those of you concerned that I’m becoming some sort of whacked out radical, rest assured I have got complete control of all of my faculties.  Glenn Beck is not a cult leader and I am not one of his peons.  I do not watch his show every day with baited breath to see what he’s channeling.  But I will say this, he’s not off base with what he’s saying right now and we would all be wise to investigate it for ourselves.   Do not scoff at him because you don’t like his background or his attitude.  If that’s what it takes to write off someone then you will all be writing me off very quickly.

Here’s the 3 videos from Wednesday’s show:

  1. Great blog and I agree with 99.9 percent of what you said.

The only thing I question, and I don’t claim to have all the answers, is that Glenn needs saved. I am a Christian, Lutheran, and I could be a better Christian ……but couldn’t we all. I have read the first part of the book of Mormon . I read it with an open mind because I was curious….but it just wasn’t my thing. I was raised Christian and couldn’t find it in me to make a change in religion. Heck I had a girlfriend recently that wanted me to convert to Catholicism and that was something I questioned more than the possibility of switching to Mormonism.

Where I’m going is this: you say “~ if we’ve declared, proclaimed a He is God and He did die for our sins, rose from the dead 3 days later and and lives. ”
I believe Glenn believes in and has full faith and love for Jesus Christ. I think that there is nobody else out there trumpeting the warning louder than Glenn and I think as far as his salvation is concerned…..he is just fine.

Just my two cents. I worry about Americas salvation and plenty of people around me, and I pray that Glenn is wrong, but fear he isn’t.
Good blog though…..God bless you and God bless us all.

    • Thanks for your reply. Glenn’s salvation is solely in the hands of God. I cannot judge. As far as I’m concerned he’s said nothing that I don’t agree with. And yes, America and Canada need salvation in the worst way. There are more Muslims in the Middle East coming to faith in Jesus right now than are coming to faith in the US and Canada. It is all scary, but not if we know and trust in the One who holds it all together.
